2010 Theme Weekends and Local Events
Make your reservations early for the following Theme Weekends and local events here at Cherokee KOA. The kabins and the best campsites fill very early for these fun filled weekends. There are all kinds of activities and events going on during these weekends you won't want to miss the fun.
March
March 27-29 - $3,000 Trout Fishing Tournament!
Cast your line for a chance at a big one! Compete with other anglers for a total of $3,000.00 in prizes. It's no fish story - come out and enjoy the fun! Some of the finest trout fishing in the eastern United States is located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation adjacent to the KOA Camping Resort. The Raven Fork River flows along one side of the campground with great fishing for those who prefer stream fishing. If you prefer pond fishing, you'll find three Tribal-owned trout ponds framing the west boundary of KOA. All are stocked twice weekly. A Tribal fishing license is all you need to catch up to 10 trout per day. There's also a new area on the river that is strictly for Fly Fishing Catch and Release only starting last year that require an additional special license. Fishing is permitted on the Reservation from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.
April
April 3-4 - Easter Weekend
Hop on over for our Easter party. Bring your basket for our Easter egg hunt, crafts, and movies at the outdoor cinema. It will be an Easter "eggstravaganza"!
April 10-11 - Customer Appreciation Weekend & Scavenger Hunt Weekend
We'll be thanking our campers with free pancake breakfast, free mini-golf, and bounce time on the jumping pillow. Here's to you, our fantastic camping guests! Join us for a campground-wide scavenger hunt. Later, we'll enjoy crafts, games, and movies at our outdoor cinema.

May 7-8 - Come Kamp with Us Weekend
Stay Friday and Saturday is FREE! Stay and pay for Friday, and Saturday is FREE. Special events and activities will benefit KOA Cancer Care Camps.

Free Pancake Breakfast for Moms on Sunday
May 13-15 - Indian Sobriety Weekend
May 14-15 - KOA National Free Come & Camp with Us Weekend
Large groups are also coming this weekend, book the camp free weekend on the 7th if there are no sites available.
May 14-16 - Cruise the Smokies- Spring Cherokee Rod Run *

May 29-31 - Memorial Day Weekend
Come and share one of the biggest camping weekends of the year. There are lots of things to do in the area. Show you're proud, have the biggest U.S. Flag display at your kabin, kottage or RV site and win a prize.

June 3-5 - Gourd Festival*

June 12 - Caribbean Weekend
We'll celebrate the flair of the Caribbean during our weekend of fun. Join us for games and crafts with island flair. Relax beside the pool.

June 19 - 50's Weekend
Shake, rattle and roll on in with your pop for a weekend of retro fun for all ages. Dance to the tunes of the 50's and 60's. Contest for the best 50's outfit or car hop outfit.
June 20 - Father's Day
Free pancakes for Dads on Sunday morning!
July
July 1-31 - July fun every day of the month!
We'll kick off the month with our patriotic celebration and we will keep it up all month long! Join us for games, crafts and fun! Live bands will perform every Saturday night. Sit in at our church service on Sunday with friends and fellow campers. Then take in a group campfire on the island.
July 2-4 - July 4th PowWow *
Located at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds. On the first full weekend in July our special brand of fireworks happen as a three-day explosion of authentic Indian dancing, drumming and tribal regalia. July 4 - July 4th Weekend

America Gets Back to its Roots at Most Significant Tribal Festival in the U.S.
Indigenous tribes from across the Americas gather for the 6th Annual Festival of Native Peoples and Indian Art Market this weekend at the Cherokee Indian Fair Grounds in Cherokee, N.C. Considered the finest showcase of native dance, song and art in the southeast, the event honors the collective history, customs and wisdom of some of the oldest documented tribes.
